The entrance vestibule of Rutherford Place, a turn-of-the-century Beaux Arts landmark structure built by J.P. Morgan, has been completely restored retaining the original marble. The traditionally furnished lobby hosts an exhibit that details the history of the building.

Rutherford Place, located on Second Avenue at East 17th Street, was once the home of Manhattan's first maternity hospital and was at the forefront of a medical revolution that changed the way women were cared for during and after delivering their babies.

An exhibit of documents, historic photographs and contemporary accounts from the first years of the hospital's life are on display in the lobby. The exhibit covers the architectural history of the building, the role the facility played in New York life at the time and a glimpse of what were then "state of the art" medical practices and the Rooftop sun deck is beautifully planted and comfortably furhished.
